Copernicus Climate Change Service (CS3)

The Copernicus Climate Change Service (CS3) provides free and open access to authoritative scientific information on the past, present and potential future world climate, to support government, scientists, consultants, planners, policymakers, the media and the public, across the world understand and prepare for climate change.

This service is provided by the Copernicus Earth Observation Programme of the European Union. An important resource to the Global Framework for Climate Services (GFCS), the information provided by C3S is based on climate research carried out within the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) and is based on the information/data requirements of the Global Climate Observing System (GCOS) including:

  • Climate change
  • Marine Monitoring
  • Atmosphere monitoring
  • Land Monitoring
  • Security
  • Emergency management

CPOM’s role

The Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S) produces annual European State of the Climate report. CPOM contributed to the following past reports, providing estimates of ice sheet mass balance, as well as up-to-date information relating to mountain glaciers and sea ice.
