David Schroeder is a Senior Sea Ice Model Development Scientist at the University of Reading. David joined CPOM in 2012. His role, as a National Capability scientist, is to improve the climate sea ice model SI^3 by implementing new physics and to support and guide researchers at the University of Reading and along the wider UK Polar Research Community. This includes applying SI^3 in stand-alone mode as well as part of a Global Climate Model and providing technical and scientific support as well as exchanging experience and expertise about suitable model configurations.
David completed his PhD in 2005 at the University of Hamburg studying the impact of cyclones on Arctic sea ice. Over his career he has worked in collaboration with the Met Office, National Oceanography Centre in Southampton (NOCS), the British Antarctic Survey (BAS) and the NEMO working group.
