Marlena Holloway started as a Sea Ice Data Scientist with CPOM at Northumbria University in November 2024. Marlena supports CPOM’s Sea Ice Earth Observation activities by helping maintain internal software and processing tools, as well as providing technical aid to fellow researchers and producing interactive visualisations. Marlena’s work focuses on satellite remote sensing and processing data sets observing the seasonal and interannual variability in sea ice cover in the Arctic and Southern Oceans. Other areas of research she has experience in include space systems engineering and data processing for astrophysics applications.
Before joining CPOM, Marlena completed a BSc in Physics with Astrophysics and MSc in Space Engineering.
