As well as working on satellite data, CPOM researchers have carried out ground-based field work as part of the international effort to develop new space technology to monitor our changing polar environment.

The Karen campaign, which took place on the west coast of Greenland in October 2016 involved extracting long cylindrical ice cores and using instruments to probe the ice sheet.
